Same words different people

I found out that my friend and I have different understandings of the vocab word but sometimes the same. One thing was that the I looked at the word virus like if it was a disease that people get that make them sick. One the other hand my friend thought of a virus that infects a  computer. One vocab word that we thought of the same was the word viral. We both thought that this was like a video or image that was so popular that it was posted all around the world.
